About this learning journey
Discover how this orientation was created specifically for the IPPA Summit.
Why This Exists
This AI Learning Orientation program was designed and developed by Prof. Llewellyn van Zyl (Ph.D) as a means to help delegates master the basic elements of AI before the conference. As the Programme Chair of the IPPA AI and Wellbeing Summit and one of the leading voices on building psychologically safe and ethically governed artificial intelligence systems, he believes AI literacy is key to not only effectively use AI systems, but that it provides us with the ability to help engineers build ethical AI systems.

Structured Learning
This learning journey emerged from a recognition that many researchers and practitioners in positive psychology need practical guidance to navigate AI's rapid evolution. The nine-module curriculum bridges foundational concepts with advanced frameworks, ensuring participants develop both technical literacy and ethical awareness.
Tailored to You
Through diagnostic-led personalization, interactive scenarios, and evidence-grounded content, the program meets learners where they are—whether you're taking your first steps with AI or deepening existing competencies. The goal is simple: equip the wellbeing community to harness AI thoughtfully and effectively in their research and practice.
